Special Session

This year a Special Session will be dedicated in memory of Anatol Odzijewicz, founder and long time organizer of the Białowieża meetings, who passed away in April 2022.

Białowieża volume

Over the past several years, we published a Białowieża volume containing selected contributions of participants of the Workshop in the series Trends in Mathematics by Birkhäuser, see here for more information. The volume will also be published this year. Details will be announced during the conference.

School for Young Researchers (Białystok, June 26-30)

The School on Geometry and Physics is adressed to young researchers and graduate students. This year it takes place in Białystok over the week preceding the Workshop in the Campus of our University. The School will start on June 26 and end June 30 (arrival is planned for June 25, departure on July 1). The total cost of the School is 300 EUR (includes accomodation, breakfast and lunch, as well as the social programme).

During the School the following 3-hour courses will be presented by the following leading experts in domains of mathematics related to mathematical physics:

• Marco Bertola (Montreal) - Orthogonal polynomials, some of their applications and asymptotic analysis
• Helge Glöckner (Paderborn) - Introduction to Infinite-Dimensional Lie Groups
• Katarzyna Grabowska (Warsaw) - Contact geometry with applications
• Andriy Panasyuk (Warsaw) - Kronecker webs and nonlinear PDEs
• Lyudmila Turowska (Gothenburg) - Quantum correlations, non-local games and operator algebras

Transportation

From Warsaw to Białowieża and back by the conference bus

A free conference bus from Warsaw to the Workshop site in Białowieża will be available to the participants. The bus will depart from Warsaw on Saturday, July 1 at 16:00. It will be waiting in front of the Palace of Culture and Science (Parade Square / Plac Defilad) on the parking lot at Marszałkowska str. (about 500 meters from the Warsaw Central Railway Station) – look for the conference posters on the bus. It will arrive in Warsaw around 12:00. Members of the local organizing committee will be at hand near the bus. Please consult the map in the section travel guide on our webpage.

The best way to get there from the airport is to take a direct train to Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna) or Railway Station "Śródmieście". The trip takes around 20 minutes.

We shall also arrange a free bus trip back from Białowieża to Warsaw on Sunday, July 9. The bus will depart from Białowieża not later than 7:00 (A.M.) and it will arrive in Warsaw about 12:00. First it will go to the airport and then to the city centre.

There will be no bus from Warsaw to Białystok for the participants of the School. There are very good train and bus connections available. Please refer to the section travel guide on our webpage.

From Warsaw to Białowieża by means of public transport

In the recent years there is no direct bus connection from Warsaw to Białowieża or Hajnówka. There are several other possible ways to reach Białowieża, please consult e.g. an on-line bus connection finder e-podroznik.pl or train information. Some suggestions can be found on our travel page.

Registration fee

The conference fee is €150 (both for on-line and in-person participation).

The cost of lunches served during the conference is €100. It includes also the conference dinner. The participants are kindly asked to notify us in advance about any dietary restrictions.

In special cases fees can be paid by cash and we accept also the equivalent in USD or PLN. Unfortunately we cannot accept other payment methods like credit cards or cheques.

There are many hotels and pensions in Białowieża to chose from in various price range. You can check out the travel page for a map of Białowieża with approximate locations of some of the hotels. However the organizers can also book a hotel for you. In that case we need to obtain the wire transfer before May 15. The cost is €400 (single room with breakfast). There is a cost of €250 for each accompanying person. Please send us an electronic confirmation of transfer as soon as possible.

In some cases we offer participants a partial support of their stay in Białowieża (e.g. for graduate students). Please contact us by email if you are interested.

Social events

During the Workshop we will organize several special events. On Monday evening we plan to have a campfire with grilled meat and other traditional dishes. On Thursday there will be a conference dinner. We intend also to organize a guided excursion to the Białowieża forest preserve.
