Gaussian distributions occupy a central place in probability theory. Their role in the statistical study of physical phenomena is invaluable. This talk will present the concept of $\alpha$-Gaussian distributions. Examples will demonstrate their applications to the study of processes (phenomena) occurring in the world around us.
