Jerzy KijowskiEnergy carried by gravitational wavesAndrzej Trautman showed in 1958 how to measures the amount of energy carried by gravitational field (the "Trautman-Bondi energy"). I prove that this construction is a particular example of an universal phenomenon, existing in any classical field theory, also special relativistic like, e.g., classical electrodynamics. The existence of such a phenomenon is an entirely new observation. |
