XXV Workshop on Geometric Methods in Physics 2-8.07.2006

Martin Kruskal

Surreal Numbers

Though not exactly geometry, the revolutionary new number system discovered by John Conway, which encompasses the usual real numbers as well as vastly more, such as a plethora of infinite numbers and infinitely small numbers, in a strikingly simple and natural way, may be expected to play an increasing role in physics, and to be of comparable interest to the attendees of this workshop.
