Asymptotically flat spacetimes revisited: aspects of the BMS/CFT correspondence

After a brief review of purely gravitational aspects of the AdS3/CFT2 correspondence, it is shown how a suitable generalization of conformal symmetry arises in asymptotically flat spacetimes at null infinity instead of the symmetry group derived by Bondi, Metzner and Sachs.
