Van Hove Hamiltonians as simple models of the infrared and ultraviolet problem

Quadratic bosonic Hamiltonians with a linear perturbation are exactly solvable models that exhibit a surprisingly rich variety of patterns. They can be used to illustrate a number of strange phenomena typical of quantum field theory involving infinite renormalization.
