Surfaces which behave like vortex lines
Within the general theory of integral invariants a la Poincare and Cartan, one can find surfaces which `move with the fluid'. The situation reduces to vortex lines and Helmholtz theorem when the general setting reduces to hydrodynamics of ideal fluid.
